i looove, love your grater design mitchell! but what a shame.. i didnt have the chance to interact with it.. rina shooed me away! :(

your design has a very calm and peaceful feel to it, its like a little pebble sitting in a pond.. surrounded by ripples. apart from its functional aspects, i really wouldnt mind just leaving this product out and making it a decoration piece. very nicely done! :)

This a very good looking design. I can feel the Japanese influence in this. That detail of rhythmic ripple of sand (or water) is wonderful, very calming and natural effect.
A very reflective way to use for grinding, coming into the users mind with living on the white sand and palm beach.

Hey the aesthetics of your project drew me to it at studio. It aesthetic because the choice of keeping wood and the carvings on them just reminded me of a really homey country kitchen cutting board. The effect of having the circles repetitive is exact to that of ripples in the water, so it is very natural not only organic.

I understand by your hero shot that you have kept your platform with a large surface area to allow garlic etc to sit on rather than be placed on the sometimes unclean kitchen table too. I reckon keep that, keep everything you have so far its fantastic but maybe what would work is removing some of the materials from underneath the grind hole and cutting top, so that it is more eco friendly and can be distinguished between grinder and cutting board, for a fast paced kitchen this is very important.what I mean by remove materials underneath is just keep the form on top but make it roughly 5 mm thick all through, so that you can see the bottom of the grinder hole semi-sphere like shape pop out of the cutting board.

Dear Mitchell. i will miss hearing your progress and development on this project. your perseverance, determination behind this was very inspiring- you inspired me to keep going, keep developing, and im sure im not the only one you inspired. Tuning into all your various stages in your model/concept development was always very exciting. Your product turned out beautifully. i know that there are some things you would of liked to have had achieved differently in the end, but i still believe this end result is a extremely hugeeeee achievement.the ripples are so beautiful up close. The way the round hand shape meets the grater part is so well done. i think the concept is very specialized and unique. In terms of any improvements: as we discussed together already, the only improvement would of been to implement the curvier shapes that you had in your mockups. but i do know that this was only held back due to materials! but then again, i only think this is obvious when it is sitting on its board! if the grater kept its current shape but didnt have the base board to go with it.... can you imagine how beautiful the grater would look just sitting on larger chopping boards, on a cheese platter display? it would look like a wooden pebble! and everyone at the part would want to grate their own cheese :) xxx

Suggestions for improvement since i didnt have it in the previous comment! :)

Drain holes could be added to where the grater is rested. This saves the user from having to dry the grater before placing it back. It also ensures that water will not accumulate in the rest hole and damage the wood surface.

adding comment for improvement:

actually, i really dont know how to give you suggestions, because i think your design is so perfect. but, maybe you could make the shape of the pebble shape more easier to grip. that would be more perfect. ^-^
